in the beautiful setting of the Tower Ballroom we
was crowned the Hotel of the Year 2005/06

the second year running in the Blackpool Tourism Awards.
No other hotel in this category has won the title

ITV1’s ‘GRUBS UP’ VISITS
THE PEMBROKE HOTEL
Granada
TV’s highly entertaining and informative regional
food programme Grubs Up makes a comeback to our TV
screens from April, and we are delighted to say that
The Pembroke Hotel is being featured in the forthcoming
series.
Grubs
Up goes out on a Thursday evenings at 7.30pm on ITV1/
Granada and The Pembroke Hotel will feature in a Top
5 Bed & Breakfasts themed programme. The shows
will start broadcasting at the end of April / early
May 2006 and I believe we will be featured in episode
3.
Filming
took around two hours to complete and involved Michael
being interviewed in the Guest Lounge about why people
should stay at the Pembroke and why using local produce
is so important to us. Alan is then interviewed in
the kitchen cooking a full English Breakfast and then
some shorts of Michael looking busy in one of the
bedrooms. It was a beautiful day outside, so hopefully
some good exterior shots of the hotel and the Promenade
were taken.
Once
the show has been broadcast I will be adding the video
footage to the website.
Being
featured on an ITV1's primetime slot show should mean
that the phones don't stop ringing, so as Fred Pontin
used to say, "BOOK EARLY".

upgrade goes live on Monday
After
a week of frantic designing and coding, www.neartheprom.com
will go live on Monday. I've also managed to incorporate
a facility that lets you translate the site into 8
different languages as well.
I'm
really pleased with the improved online support which
now has a more professional approach to implementing
support and live help..
The
online availability and booking system should be fun
to use, as we hardly have any availability left for
the illuminations period. But
everything we have will be on there!
Over
the next 2 days I will be fine tuning the design and
optimizing the pages for the major search engines.
As
promised, once my eyes have uncrossed themselves,
I will add all the major innovations from www.neartheprom.com
to this site.

- Blackpool Illuminations now shine nightly
until 6th November 2005
New
for 2005 is the awesome "Festival of Lights"

www.festivaloflight.co.uk
The
Festival is a mixture of spectacular and intriguing
events and installations taking place in Blackpool
during the 66 nights of the Illuminations.
Make sure you see Michael Trainor's giant mirror ball
installation entitled They shoot horses don't they
which will be spectacularly illuminated by Greg McLenahan.
There's the History of the Illuminations exhibition
at the Solaris Centre where you can get up close to
working illuminations and see original drawings and
diagrams dating back to the 1930's. There is also
a very special installation, Bajra, a 135,000 bulb
illuminated peacock from India.

Video teasers of this years Illuminations
will be online shortly
The
world famous Blackpool Illuminations shine nightly
from the 2nd September until the 6th November. Featuring
a staggering display which uses over one million light
bulbs, it's not to be missed!
The Illuminations cost £2.4 million to stage
and the mountain of equipment is worth £10 million.
The Illuminations will shine non-stop for 66 nights
and the dazzling display stretches almost six miles
from Starr Gate to Bispham.
